The Flatiron Luthier Services
Shop training and background:
Our President, Sarah Kluge of Sarah E. Gray Restoration LLC, has worked for over two decades learning the art and craft of restoration. She trained with apprenticeships and internships under the tutelage of Gabrielli Rossi, Roberta Lapucci PHD, Paola Stigliano, W. E. Wamsley Restoration, John Safian, Ron Forrester- Archetier, and Tim Hulley. Sarah has attended Oberlin Violin Restoration workshops since 2011, served on the board of the Violin Society of America, participates in the British Violin Makers Association, public outreach, and enjoys a conservative approach with acoustic emphasis in-trade commission work.

Our new shop foreman, Angie Daniels, began her craft training in her sophomore year of high school. She is passionate about instrument identification, provenance and history. After her graduation, she attended the Violin Repair Program in Red Wing, Minnesota, where she excelled in her classes and worked as a teacher's aide. In 2018, Angie received a scholarship for further education from the Violin Society of America. She has spent the last ten years training under those serving teachers and families in the school setting and is gifted at anticipating their needs. Angie enjoys collaborating with clients, parents, private and public teachers and has a deep understanding of the unique needs faced by the motivated student and their family.
In addition to providing client services, The Flatiron Luthier is also dedicated to their partnership with The Flatiron Luthier Cooperative. We partner with local and other non-profit organizations whose missions align to bring the joy of music to those who may not have access to it otherwise.
